Mission Statement

The Miss America Organization (MAO) is the largest provider of scholarships for women in the world.
Last year, MAO and its state and local organizations like Miss Hoosier Heartland, made available over
$45 million in cash and scholarship assistance. In 2006-07 alone, our preliminary awarded in excess of
$10,000.00 in scholarship money and prizes. The MAO is a not-for-profit organization, which consists of
a strong network of volunteers and donors who believe their contributions positively affect the thousands
of women who participate in local, state and national Miss America programs each year.

Much more than a mere "beauty pageant" the Miss Hoosier Heartland pageant family and volunteers
promote the same core values and goals as the national program while reinforcing, showcasing, and
building on the talents, dreams, and spirits of our titleholders and contestants. We encourage each young
woman to "be herself," while giving her the tools, knowledge, and confidence she needs to compete and
succeed at the Miss Indiana pageant, but most importantly, in life.

We firmly believe that each young woman who participates in the Miss Hoosier Heartland program should
walk away from her pageant experience feeling fulfilled, proud, and with the feeling that she has formed a
bond with other competitors, directors, and volunteers. The journey to Miss America begins with a single
step...make your first step as a competitor in the Miss Hoosier Heartland and Miss Hoosier Valley
